Together for  a better environment

The brief on plastic bags

The raw material that are used in the production of plastic are generally considered as  secondary by-products  to the industry of oil refinery. Of  every oil barrel refined 4% can be converted to one of the raw material that is used in the production of plastic.

The use of plastic products has become an essential part of our daily activities so much so that it is difficult to imagine carrying out our daily activities without encountering  our having to deal with  at least one plastic product.

Plastic has become so popular because of its light weight and high strength, durability, and impermeability  to water and air  in addition to its relatively affordable price. All these characteristics make plastic the number one favorite material for packaging , carrying, or storing food and carrying shopping…...etc.

Ironically the characteristics that make plastic so good are the very same characteristics which make plastic a major source of contamination to the environment. Knowing that plastic is chemically inert and does not react in the atmosphere, and therefore when a plastic bag outlives its purpose it becomes undesirable waste and accumulate suffocating the soil and blocking the drains endangering cattle on top of the unsavory scene plastic litter creates.

The traditional methods for eliminating plastic waste include burial, incineration, and recycling, we find that all of the methods currently used are not effective in reducing the negative impact of plastic waste on the environment and in some cases even worsening the environmental impact. With regard to recycling, it is a good idea in principle, but effectively the amount of plastic captured do not add up to more than 1%.
